PowerBuilder in a .NET World

PowerBuilder 11 has embarked in a brave new world, creating .NET assemblies and applications that run in the .NET Common Language Runtime (CLR).  A variety of PowerBuilder language have been added to achieve .NET interoperability, and there is a new universe of capability and functionality that comes with .NET, including .ASPX deployment, cross-language component invocation, and other important developer considerations.

PowerBuilder 11 makes it possible to produce and consume .NET classes and provides a variety of deployment options, including DataWindow .NET 2.5 and Appeon .NET Version 6.0.  This presentation continues the April presentation, showing a selection of best practices on producing and consuming .NET classes in PowerBuilder.  Don Clayton with Intertech Consulting, Inc. will review a number of topics related to PowerBuilder and .NET, including:

• Overview of .NET, Continued
• PB .NET
• Using .NET features in PowerBuilder
• Translating C# code snippet to PowerScript
• Consuming Web Services using .NET interop
• Using the .NET DataWindow with other .NET languages
