1)  SUG-TX January Meeting

Happy New Years to everyone!  The Sybase Users’ Group of Texas will have a January planning meeting on January 24th, Tuesday, at 5pm Brix Wine Bar located at 110 Vintage Park Blvd  in Houston, TX 77070! Plan to attend a SUG-TX meeting in 2012 and network with other Sybase users in Houston.

Send suggestions to secretary@sugtx.org.  Let us know if you are interested in being on the SUG-TX Board next year.

Topics for future meetings are subject to change based on speaker availability and scheduling.  Watch the newsletter for details for each meeting.  SUG-TX usually meets on the 4th Tuesday so add a recurring appointment on your calendar.

3)  Join the SUG-TX LinkedIn Group

The Sybase Users’ Group of Texas has a group in LinkedIn.  If you wish to join, submit a request.  You can find the group by searching for “Sybase Texas” in the groups directory.  Contact secretary@sugtx.org if you have any questions.

4)  Staying connected with PowerBuilder

Sue Dunnell, Product Manager for PowerBuilder, blogs about goings on in the PB community on the ISUG website.  Add  PowerBuilder Product Manager’s Corner to your favorites.

5)  Sybase Sets Stage for Data Management Growth in 2012

The first calendar year following SAP’s acquisition of Sybase is coming to a close. David Jonker, director, product marketing – Data Management & Analytics, Sybase, discusses key product integrations, IT trends that loom large in Sybase’s data management strategies, and the emergence of what Sybase describes as DW 2.0. 2011 has been “a foundational year,” with effort focused on making Sybase technologies work with SAP and setting the stage for 2012, says Jonker. “We believe 2012 is going to be a big year for us on the database side.”

8)  OpenSolaris / Houston User Group for Sun (HUGS) Meeting

The OpenSolaris / Houston User Group for Sun meets on the second Tuesday of every month.  The next meeting will be on February 14th.
