1)    SUG-TX May Meeting – May 28th, Tuesday from 3pm to 5pm

NEW LOCATION! We have made big plans and will be changing our SUG-TX meeting locations to the Houston SAP offices located at 2601 Westheimer Road, Suite C250, Houston, TX 77098. This location is at the corner of Kirby and Westheimer in the West Ave Shopping Center, directly above the Tootsies clothing store.  Please mark May 28th, Tuesday from 3pm to 5pm on your calendar and make plans to join us and see the beautiful SAP offices. The SUG-TX Board is excited about the upcoming changes for our organization and wants you to join us.

HANA and the Real Time Platform

We are very excited to have as our guest speaker Sid Sipes, Director of Data Warehouse in the SAP Solutions Management group.

Sid will give an informative presentation called “HANA and the Real Time Platform”.  He will explain what HANA is and how it’s different from the Sybase portfolio. He will discuss where each of the products fit and why it’s important to SAP. Join us at the meeting to learn how the Sybase products are tightly integrated and are coupled with HANA in the real time data platform. SAP Sybase ASE, SAP Sybase SQL Server, SAP Sybase IQ and other products in the Sybase portfolio will co-exist in the SAP futures roadmap to create a more robust environment. Having a real time data platform means to have one data platform with common APIs and common SQL language to have your environment working efficiently and effectively.

Sid is responsible for promoting and supporting SAP Sybase IQ and the SAP Real Time Data Platform. He works on many projects providing technical support for his clients. Sid started with Sybase in 1995 supporting Sybase IQ for at least 15 years. Since the 2010 SAP and Sybase acquisition, Sid joined the SAP Solution Management team and works on strategic solutions for SAP clients in the area.

Check out the Database & Developer Digest Blog by Adrian Bridgwater at  One of his latest blogs talks about the Use of In-Memory Databases. “The number of developers using in-memory databases has increased 40% worldwide from 18% to 26% during the last six months, according to Evans Data’s new Global Development Survey, an in-depth technology adoption survey of over 1300 developers worldwide.  An additional 39% globally say they plan to incorporate in-memory databases into their development work within the next 12 months.

Developers in North America and the Asia Pacific region show the strongest upturn in adoption.  While a slightly higher percentage of developers in North America, 29%, now incorporate in-memory databases, almost half of those in the APAC region expect to be using one in the future.  The EMEA region is the slowest to adopt the technology.” Learn more at
